Description: A
long rubber hose is stretched across the front of the lecture room.
The far end is fixed, and the instructor's end is movable, but
generally a fixed end. Pulses can be sent to show propagation and the inverse reflection from a fixed end. Timing the pulse travel and measuring the length can give an approximation of the pulse speed. With good timing, various standing waves can be set up.
Questions:
How does the tension determine the speed of the pulse?
